About Bill Strauss

WilliamStraussNamed for Bill Strauss (1947-2007), gifted writer, co-founder of the Capitol Steps and the Cappies, the Strauss Fellowships support and encourage Fairfax County’s finest creative artists in all disciplines and recognize professional working artists’ achievements and their demonstrated history of accomplishments; they promote artists’ continued pursuit of their creative work.

The grant money I received has impacted my art career more than I ever could have expected. I created a interactive public art project that I installed in temporary locations in Fairfax county and the DC metro area. I had over 1000 participants in the artwork, and the project resulted in three gallery exhibitions and one museum show in Washington, DC. It also led to a commission for a new temporary public work in Baltimore. I can't thank the Arts Council enough for helping me further my work and expanding the visibility and enjoyment of art in the public eye.
